The E-BoP team is busy organising our next event! On 10 October (4PM Paris time) we will host a seminar on Labour Migration and Domestic Work in the EU. It will be held in Strasbourg at the Law Faculty (details in the pdf below if you’re close enough to join us!) but it will also be streamed on Zoom (again, details and registration below). For the seminar, we are thrilled to have Vera Pavlou (University of Glasgow) and Maria Sagmeister (University of Vienna) as confirmed speakers, who will be joined by our very own Catharina Lopes Scodro and Marco Rocca to complete the panel.

Our seminar will focus on how the law defines migrant domestic workers’ status and the rights they are entitled to, focusing in particular on the role of space and time. To do this, we will cover several different situations, from intra-EU migration (such as posting of workers), to third country nationals, to au pairs. Our panel will explore the current challenges faced by migrant domestic workers in Europe, shedding light on their vulnerabilities and, following the call of Vera’s book, on how migration and labour laws underpin these very vulnerabilities.
